The Full Story
Maximum Velocity Racing (MVRL) was established in 2016 by Kerry Cleaver out of a desire to compete in a league that I believed was run fairly. Initially, I partnered with Scott Brinson, who managed the Indy racing side of the league. However, at one point, we decided to go our separate ways. Shaun Zulu then joined me in building a new league, and we hosted races at Daytona and Talladega for several months to attract racers. Eventually, Johnny Smith stepped in and provided significant assistance. I truly could not have built the league without the contributions of these two individuals.
After several seasons, the three of us realized that we no longer had the time or desire to continue the league. While we had many great experiences and enjoyed our time together, we understood that all good things must come to an end, and we decided to close the doors in 2018. In 2023, James Leman approached me with the idea of resurrecting the league. I was supportive of the idea, as long as I would not be involved in the decision-making process. The rest is history.
Now, James Leman has owned MVRL since 2023 and has grown the league to a new level. We have had a different champion every season since his start, and our fields are full, providing some great racing. If you are looking for an amazing league, look no further—MVRL is the place for fantastic racing and a great community. See you on the track!
